Debutant defender Nacho’s well-focused goal at 58’ put Spain ahead in game first time after 50 minutes of play and they retained it till 88’. But Ronaldo spoiled it for Spain by hitting an equalizer on a free kick. It was a much-needed goal for Portugal to save the game.
Earlier Portugal had been leading the game since the beginning after the first goal scored by Ronaldo at 4’. D Cost scored an equalizer at 24’, however, this equation ends just before halftime when Ronaldo strike a goal through the legs of De Gea and again Portugal gain a lead.
The table turned in the second half when D Costa strike at 55’ followed by Nacho at 58’ and Spain get a lead of 3-2. It was going smoothly towards Spain. But Portugal’s Ronaldo converts a free kick into a score with an excellent spinning strike to end the game with 3-3.
This was second ever world cup game between Portugal and Spain. These teams have been against each other in 2010, were Spain won by 1-0.
